Appreciate the Push

Appreciate the Push

There’s an old truth that hits harder the older you get: A healthy person wants a million things. A sick person wants one. You don’t realize how much you take for granted until it’s taken from you. Running. Walking. Golfing. Training. Even just feeling good when you wake up. When something gets stripped away, things change fast. Right now? I don’t have to train. I don’t have to lunge. I GET TO. I get to lunge 800 meters. I get to work through the challenge. And that shift—from have to → get to—changes everything. Because when you’ve dealt with injuries, setbacks, or just not feeling right… you start to appreciate the work in a different way. When I lunge, I’m not just training legs. I’m building mental clarity, creating discipline, and setting a standard. My grandpa used to say, “Never lose your legs.” We played our last round of golf when he was 89 years old. That's always stuck with me, because once your legs go, your freedom starts to go with it. So let me say this as simple as possible... if your stomach is getting bigger and your ass is getting smaller… that’s a problem. And if you’re in a position where you can push… then push.
