The Pump Builder Nobody Uses Enough

You ever grab a pair of dumbbells in a packed gym and think: “Cool. Now what can I actually do with these without giving them up?”

That’s exactly how Rep Progression was born.

Busy gym. Limited equipment. No chance I’m surrendering my dumbbells.

So instead of traditional sets and supersets, I built something that keeps tension high, rest low, and the pump building the entire time.

What is Rep Progression?

Rep Progression is simple:

  • You alternate between two exercises.
  • You climb the rep ladder.

Example with dumbbell curls:

  • 1 regular curl + 1 hammer curl
  • 2 regular curls + 2 hammer curls
  • 3 + 3
  • 4 + 4
  • 5 + 5
  • Up to 6 + 6

No real rest. Just controlled transitions.

You can go to 5 or 6 reps per movement depending on the weight.

That’s one full progression.

Rest briefly, then repeat.

Why It Works

It works because you’re changing angles, you’re increasing the time under tension, you’re stacking fatigue gradually, you’re flooding the muscle with blood, AND you’re creating a new stimulus!!

Instead of straight sets with long rest, you’re building tension wave after wave.

The muscle doesn’t get comfortable. And neither do you because this method is tough.

Why I Use It

Supersets are great… until the gym is slammed.

Machines are taken. Benches are gone. You’re bouncing around like a lost puppy.

Rep Progression keeps you locked into one station.

One pair of dumbbells. One small area. Maximum output.

It’s efficient, practical, and the pump is absolutely ridiculous.

Where to Use It

You can use Rep Progression for:

  • Biceps (regular + hammer)

  • Chest (flat + neutral grip press)

  • Shoulders (front + lateral raise)

  • Legs (goblet + split squat)

  • Triceps (overhead + kickback)

Any two movements that hit slightly different angles.

Climb the ladder, feel the burn build, and enjoy the filthy pump coming your way.
