What is your true risk tolerance?

It’s imperative that you identify this marker. Taking large financial or time risks can potentially put more strain and stress on your family, for example. These types of risks can be very scary… and it never goes away.

The fear that comes with taking risks never goes away, rather it becomes more manageable. Manageable in the sense that you learn how to handle risk in a more strategic manner. Strong risk management is built through confidence, experience, and overall belief in the project.

What’s the middle ground?

Many people come to me saying that they do X for a living, but want to do Y. They fail to see what’s in between. For instance, the middle ground may mean having two jobs for some time. A “side hustle,” in addition to their day job.

Through deep passion and hard work on your side hustle, opportunities start to present themselves. You finally see an opening to make the lateral move to leave the job you dislike.

Ditch complacency

I’ve caught myself being comfortable and complacent multiple times in my career. Becoming more self-aware allowed me to ditch the complacency to do something greater. This is what continues to fuel my fire to push harder and farther.

It never is not scary. I’m not just a machine taking careless risks left and right, hoping for the best. I always fully evaluate the upsides and downsides of the risk. The best and worst-case scenarios.

Believe it

When I take on giant risks, I believe in what is possible wholeheartedly. Not only do I believe it, I know it. It’s important to be solution-based. Although you will run into obstacle after obstacle, you must believe that you are capable of finding the answers. That is exactly how I operate.

“To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all – but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing.”

― Abraham Lincoln

If you can see and touch them, you have no belief at all. It’s all about having faith in what is possible. You have to believe it what it can be.
