Unmatched Enthusiasm
Gary exemplifies an enthusiasm for life and with what he loves to do. I could see it radiating from him within the first five seconds of my interview with him. He jumped on camera and immediately started flexing at me. He’s eating a bowl of cereal, saying that he was getting his “Bryson breakfast” in.
An unparalleled passion for life and a deep understanding of just how valuable it is.
Knock the Naysayers
He never listened to the haters when it came to lifting and golf, despite people saying he lifted too heavy, he’ll never be able to play, or that he’s too old. Guess what? He went on to win all four major championships as a Tour Professional.
He spoke about squatting 325 pounds on his 150-pound frame the night before he won the US Open with no equipment. What? He literally had two guys holding the bar while squatting, in the hotel.
This was a similar lesson I learned from Arnold. You can’t listen to the haters, especially if you know internally it’s what you should be doing.
Having Gratitude
Gary shows a great deal of gratitude and appreciate for others, his life, opportunities, and for humanity as a whole. When Nelson Mandela got out of jail, he asked for three people, and one of them was Gary Player. This man is just unbelievable.
The youthfulness Gary shows at the ripe age of 85 is truly inspiring for all of us.
