Short-term and long-term finish lines
Even though there is no final finish line in life, there are short-term finish lines.
Finishing the #IWANTABZ contest, hitting a new income goal, reaching a certain bodyweight, or growing your business to a new level.
These milestones matter. They give you direction. They give you something to aim at.
But they are not the end of the story. They are checkpoints.
Think about graduating high school or college. You don’t just stop learning once you graduate. At least, you shouldn’t. If you want to continue growing, improving, and expanding your opportunities, learning can’t stop.
There will always be something new to understand. A new skill to build. A new problem to solve. A new person to learn from.
Growth is ongoing.
Even after you hit a major milestone, life keeps moving. There is always another day, another challenge, another opportunity to improve.
The finish line keeps moving forward.
That means continuing to educate yourself, taking care of your body, strengthening relationships and setting new goals.
On to the next one
After I accomplish a goal, I start thinking about the next one. Not because I’m never satisfied… …but because growth creates momentum.
Each goal builds confidence. Each win expands what you believe is possible. You begin to realize you are capable of more than you originally thought.
Fall in love with the process. We’re talking about the day-to-day work, the habits, the learning and struggling, and the mundane reps.
That’s where the results actually come from.
Will you love every part of the process? Nope, but if you stay consistent over time, the results compound in ways most people never experience.
And that’s where the real win happens.
